If your application has been referred, it doesn't mean it has been approved or declined.

It simply means that we need to carry out some additional checks before we can make a final decision.

Your application will be reviewed by one of our underwriters, who will look at the information you've provided and decide whether we need anything else to complete your assessment.

Why Has My Application Been Referred?

Applications may be referred for a number of reasons. For example, we may need to:

• Review your application in more detail

• Carry out additional affordability checks

• Verify your identity

• Request further information before making a decision

This is a normal part of our application process for some customers.

What Checks Do You Carry Out?

As a responsible lender authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), we carry out checks to make sure any loan we offer is affordable and suitable for your circumstances.

Credit Checks

We carry out a credit check as part of your application.

Rather than relying on a single credit score, we look at how you're currently managing your existing credit commitments and whether taking on additional borrowing is likely to be affordable.

Affordability Checks

We may ask to see your bank statement information to help us understand your income and regular spending.

The quickest way to do this is through secure Open Banking, although in some cases we may accept paper bank statements instead.

These checks help us assess whether the repayments would be affordable for you.

Identity Checks

To help protect you and meet our legal and regulatory responsibilities, we need to verify your identity.

As part of this process, we may ask for your National Insurance number, which helps us confirm your identity and ensure your application is processed securely.

What Happens Next?

If we need any additional information, we'll contact you and explain what we need.

Once we've completed our review, we'll let you know the outcome of your application as soon as possible.
